Compassionate Homes for Veterans (CHV) is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to providing support, resources, and opportunities to homeless and at-risk veterans. We focus on providing safe and secure housing and promoting health, education, empowerment, and community development through various programs, fundraisers, and volunteer initiatives.
We serve U.S. military veterans who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of losing their housing. If you are a veteran in need of support, you are encouraged to contact us. We are here to help.
Our headquarters is in Hanover, Maryland. We currently serve veterans in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. as we work to expand our impact regionally and beyond.

Our core program provides veterans with housing and wraparound support. This includes help with employment, financial education, mental health resources, life skills, and access to community-based and VA services.
Veterans can apply directly by calling 1 (800) 538-7985 or visiting compassionatehomes.org and completing our contact form. Case managers, family members, and partners can also refer a veteran. We respond quickly and provide guidance through every step.
It costs $15,000 to provide one veteran with stable housing and comprehensive support for an entire year. This includes rent, utilities, food, supplies, and services to help them achieve lasting independence.

Yes. We welcome individuals, schools, businesses, and groups to create fundraisers. We can provide materials, guidance, and ideas to help you get started and make an impact.
Yes. We gratefully accept in-kind donations such as furniture, household goods, hygiene products, gift cards, and other essentials that directly support veterans in our housing program.
